What Is a Consignment?

A consignment is a shipment instruction that contains all the information required to dispatch goods to a customer. It acts as a bridge between your sales order and the shipping provider.

Consignments are a key part of the order fulfilment process. They represent individual shipping jobs tied to customer orders.

When a new order is received a consignment can be created to manage its delivery.

Each consignment includes:

  • The order reference (eg. SP007)

  • The source address

  • Shipping service selection & tracking

  • Package details (pieces, weight, dimensions, value)

  • The consignee’s shipping address

  • The Lines/SKUs included in the order

Creating a Consignment

Once an order is visible in the system, a consignment can be created by clicking actions and selecting 'Ship Order'. You will need to then enter the necessary details and complete the shipping information.

Many of these fields such as the consignee name, address, and order items will be pre-filled automatically based on the original order.
